Activists: Extell Development's plan for a 'poor door' building next to its proposed Lower East Side luxury tower is a poor idea Residents of Chinatown and the Lower East Side rallied Friday outside the 227 Cherry St. construction site to demand a halt to plans for a luxury high rise that would include a separate 'poor door' building for low-income residents. The good news is that the poor people of New York do not have to sit at the back of the bus, not yet anyway.
